Breaking: Sullivan folds after sexist smear, closes Twitter feed to public

Facing backlash from a NH Journal report highlighting a series of sexist tweets directed at Republican State Representative and congressional candidate Marilinda Garcia, Democrat State Rep. Peter Sullivan refused to apologize for his statements and shortly afterward made his Twitter account private, meaning tweets can only be viewed by individuals approved by Sullivan.

However, screencaps of Sullivan’s previous tweets comparing Garcia to reality television personality Kim Kardashian and referring to her as a “lightweight” in “stiletto heels” can still be viewed online, as well as Sullivan’s sarcastic “apology” to Kardashian.

The New Hampshire Republican State Committee and Garcia campaign both called on Rep. Anne Kuster – who Garcia seeks to oppose in the 2014 general election – to repudiate Sullivan’s comments, but Kuster has remained silent to date.
