Day 9 of Lamontagne’s ‘Tax of the Day’ barrage hits Hassan on state park fees

Another day, another tax that former state Senator, and current Democratic gubernatorial nominee, Maggie Hassan supported.

Hassan’s Republican opponent Ovide Lamontagne’s campaign is keeping up the tax hiking pressure on the former state senator, now bringing enjoyment of New Hampshire’s state parks into the fray. An email from Lamontagne’s campaign points to a vote by Hassan “to require an entrance fee to Jericho State Park.”

The bill, which Hassan supported prior to her defeat in 2010, began mandating fees for entry into the park starting in January of last year.

While the legislation contained a provision allowing the Commissioner of DRED to begin accepting donations, the required entry fee was also included in the package. Lamontagne’s campaign dubbed Hassan’s support as proof that an optional donation was “not enough to satisfy her need to tax.”

The campaign’s email documents that the vote on SB 313 was cast on June 2nd of 2010.
