Dover 12-Year-Old All-Stars Climb Mount Major

DOVER — The Dover 12 year old All Star Baseball Team recently returned home from hiking Mount Major near Alton Bay, New Hampshire. The two and half hour hike was one of many team building events planned by the All Star Coaching Staff to prepare the players for the  2011 Cal Ripken 12-year-old New England regional baseball tournament to be held in July.

Dover was awarded the honor to host the week-long tournament to be held at Keays Field.  State champions from Connecticut, New Hampshire, Eastern Massachusetts and Western Massachusetts will descend into Dover all fighting to earn a bid to represent New England during World Series play in Aberdeen Maryland late summer.  “The boys were challenged by navigating the 3.8 mile trail and they were successful” said Rocky D’Andrea, All Star Coach. “We are emphasizing to the boys that as a team they can achieve anything—why not us?” Following the hike, the boys gathered at Kendall Pond Pizza.

Tournament preparations are underway. For more information on becoming a sponsor or volunteering your time and talents, please contact Jackie Valley at 603-969-9147 or jvalley28@comcast.net.
