Dover Cal Ripken Baseball Allstars Beat Barrington

The Dover 12 year old Cal Ripken Baseball All Stars return home from tournament play in Auburn, New Hampshire with an 11-2 win against Barrington.

First inning action allowed the entire Dover line up an at-bat during the bottom of the first inning to give Dover a comfortable 4-1 lead. Into the third inning, Dover batter Damon Perkins reached base on a walk, singles by Cole Carter, Eric Evans, and Tommy Bennett advanced the runners and allowed two more runs to score and with two men on, Austin McLean hit a homerun to earn 3 RBIs and bring the score to 11-1 Dover. Barrington scored one more during the top of the fourth, but Dover would hold them there. Bottom of the fourth witnessed solid hits by Dover’s Hunter Zabkar and Bryce Wydra and two stolen bases by pinch runner Damon Perkins.

Opening Dover pitcher, Sean Hayden went 5 complete innings allowing only two runs. Cole Carter was brought in to close out the game. Carter had good support by his teammates during the final inning of play. Dover’s defense stepped up with solid throws to first and text book execution of a rundown of a stranded Barrington runner to end the game. Final score 11-2 Dover over Barrington. Tournament play continues tonight.
