CONCORD — The morning after Sen. Jeanne Shaheen kicked off the general election with two television ads – one positive and one attacking opponent Scott Brown – the Brown campaign returned fire Wednesday morning with an ad that both re-introduces him to Granite State voters and ties Shaheen to President Barack Obama.
According to the Brown campaign, “The 30-second spot frames the race as a contest between Jeanne Shaheen, an Obama rubber stamp, and Scott Brown, a truly independent voice for New Hampshire.”
But Shaheen campaign manager Mike Vlacich said the ad is an attempt by Brown “to distract from his record of giving special breaks to Big Oil and Wall Street and supporting companies that ship American jobs overseas. ”
The Brown ad is set at MaryAnn’s Diner in Derry, saying, “I want a strong America with good jobs you can count on and a foreign policy that once again leads the world.”
Brown then says that Shaheen’s support for Obama 99 percent of the time means “fewer jobs, higher taxes and debt, a health care law that doesn’t work and an unstable world.”
He promises to be “an independent senator.”

Vlacich responded: “Changing his address doesn’t change his record and his phony attack ads can’t change Jeanne Shaheen’s record of putting New Hampshire first. Unlike Scott Brown, Jeanne Shaheen has made a difference for the people who live and work here, and she has a long record of reaching across the aisle to get things done for our state.”
