Jindal to New Hampshire

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, an oft-mentioned prospective 2016 GOP contender for president, is heading to the Granite State to fill the coffers of the campaign arm of state Senate Republicans.

A press release noted that the Friday fundraiser at the Radisson Center of the NH Ballroom in Manchester, with a general reception kicking off at 5:30. According to a CNN report, ticket prices are “running from $100 to $5,000.”

Jindal, who also chairs the Republican Governors’ Association, made headlines after the 2012 election for his blunt assessment of the direction he felt the party should move. His speeches have geared towards a populist-esque message focused on the states.

The foray into the Granite State comes 10 days before a potential competitor, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, keynotes the first-ever NH GOP Liberty Dinner. That event will also be attended by Republican National Committee head Reince Preibus.

An early survey of the potential Republican field, conducted late last month, showed Paul surging 24 points from the 4 percent he initially registered in November of last year. He led Florida Senator Marco Rubio 28-25 percent, with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie in third at 14 percent. Jindal’s numbers were at the bottom of the poll, though his name ID is not yet as high as other potential contenders.
