Kimball called Barton his “black ops guy”

Shortly after he won the Chairmanship of the New Hampshire Republican State Committee, Jack Kimball singled out Joe Barton for praise as his “black ops guy” at a house party. Barton is alleged to have made threats over e-mail and the phone to Republican State Senator Sharon Carson because of her position on right-to-work legislation. Barton denies he made the threats.

The phrase “black ops” generally refers to covert military operations that exist outside of standard military protocol and sometimes even outside the law.

“Where’s Joe Barton, my ‘black ops’ guy?” Kimball shouts to loud applause at about 5:30 into a video of the house party. “There’s Joe the man!” Kimball then recounts a story about Barton on the campaign trail.

Sen. Carson claims Barton told her, “I know where you live and I’m coming to get you.” Barton serves as the Chair of the Newmarket Republican Committee.

Kimball refused comment when we repeatedly asked what he meant by “black ops” and whether Barton was still performing “black ops” on his behalf. But during the race for Chairman, Kimball made it clear he was going to get involved in legislative issues.

“I won’t tolerate our party deviating from its conservative platform,” he told NH Journal at the time. “I plan to get involved in activities at the State House if and when I think we are straying from our platform,” he added.

“On Sunday, April 10th, I received a telephone call from a person who made statements that rose to what I believe to be of a criminal threatening nature and I felt was necessary to report to my local law enforcement. State and local law enforcement have undertaken an investigation, issued a no trespassing order and will resolve this matter as they now see fit,” Carson said in a statement.

“I am thankful for the unanimous support of my fellow Senators and for the personal promise from NHGOP Chairman Jack Kimball that the NHGOP has a zero tolerance policy for this kind of behavior. Today, I am turning my focus back to what the voters of my district want me to concentrate on such as balancing the state budget, showing fiscal restraint and improving New Hampshire’s economy. As far as this matter; I consider it closed,” she added.

How sad that she nixed HB 542… so much for the rights of parents!

    Mr Millerick,

You allegation that Jack Kimball has somehow used Joe Barton to intimidate people is not only wrong but borders on libelous. I have worked with both Jack and Joe in the campaigns and the reason for the “black ops guy” comments is that Joe tabulated the information from the volunteers and keept track of the numbers. Joe called himself that name as a joke because of his aptitude for creating programs showing areas where the campaign needed to focus. Joe Barton is not the type to harass and lie about it so I believe there is more here that meets the eye. Why would a republican take the course of action Sen Carson took calling the cops and the newspapers on another republican given the current situation in Concord?
It doesn’t make sense to me. If she had Joe’s personal information (which she did) why didn’t she call the Chairman and asked him to address the issue.

Don’t try to create an issue where there is none and don’t try to smear Jack Kimball because your publication supported Juliana Bergeron. Sour grapes are not good precedence for good reporting and we have enough people to fight on the other side without eating our own.

I do not believe for a moment Jack Kimball had anything to do with Barton’s threats against the Senator nor would he ever resort to that kind of conduct – as for Barton being a former employee, Kimball was very quick to denounce him and his behavior. (I hear he knows something about Barton he is not sharing…)

That being said, Barton has a trail a mile long of similar complaints (and worse) and there will be more to this story before it is all over.

As for the unflappable Senator Carson, she is a highly respected legislator with a 100% rating from Cornerstone, the NRA and several other conservative organizations – not to mention a decorated US Army veteran. What reason would she have to lie, she had nothing to gain by standing up to this bully? If she said it happened, I think most everyone is going to take her word over Barton.

I read this headline and almost pee’d myself laughing. From what I’ve heard both Barton and that RINO Kimball (He’s really just another Libertarian in disguise as a Republican) need to be on the watch for Senator Carson’s own Black Op’s guy – her husband.

This is a repost from a comment on the UL : “I knew both the Carson’s while in the Army…her husband, he is a second-generation special op’s soldier who has what is described in the terms of art as having “a very special set of skills.” He spent the last four years in the military not wearing rank on his jungle fatigues only the letters “SA,” when he was not wearing civilian clothes, long hair and a crazy handlebar mustache. It’s always the quite ones…I’m sure he is still “A Law-Abiding Citizen.”

I was on the state committee a few years ago and I knew Greg had been in the Army but I did not know what he did, he does not say much about his job or training. One day I visited him on a housing issue in his very nice corner office over looking the river in Manchester. There were only two items in his office that indicated his time in the military, both certificates hanging on the wall. One for his Special Forces Counter-Espionage Training and one from Tel Aviv, Israel from his “Productive Interrogation Training” from the Mossad – most of it is also in Hebrew. I asked him why those to items and he said, “people tend to tell the truth after seeing them, and it used to scare the “stiffs” when I worked in DC – and then he eerily laughed. Believe me it worked.

I am glad to see Kimball disavowed this guy Barton very fast, it was I admit a class move on his part and I’m guessing when push comes to shove Kimball probably believes Senator Carson’s version of events.
