Lamontagne leads Hassan in two new polls
It’s been a “taxing” Friday for Democratic gubernatorial nominee Maggie Hassan’s campaign.
First came the discovery that NHPR had altered subsequent re-airings of the first debate between Hassan and Republican opponent Ovide Lamontagne by omitting Hassan’s “proud to have sponsored that tax” gaffe. Then came the daily “Maggie’s Tax of the Day” series circulated by Lamontagne’s campaign, which serves as a scrapbook of the 99 tax hikes Hassan backed while serving in the state Senate.
The Friday trifecta is completed by two new polls, each of which show Hassan trailing Lamontagne with just 26 days remaining before votes are cast.
The first poll, conducted by WMUR-UNH, shows Hassan trailing by a margin of 34-30%, with the remaining voters being undecided.
Meanwhile, an American Research Group survey shows Hassan trailing by 6 points, 46-40%, with 3% preferring another candidate and the remaining 11% undecided.
