‘Maggie’s Tax of the Day’ foreshadows annual moose hunt
With the Granite State’s annual moose hunt set to kick off tomorrow, it seems only appropriate that Ovide Lamontagne’s gubernatorial campaign would close out this week’s entries in the ‘Maggie’s Tax of the Day’ series by highlighting Hassan’s vote to hike the moose hunting permit fee.
“In addition to a fee to enter the lottery for the 275 permits, lottery winners are also required to pay a permit fee should they win. Thanks to Sen. Hassan, if you are one of the out-of-state permit winners, the price of that permit is at least 50% more expensive than it was in 2007,” read this morning’s press release.
Lamontagne’s campaign noted that, prior to the change, the fee was “$100 for residents and $300 for non-residents,” but the Hassan-backed increase raised the out of state fee to $450.
