Manchester Democratic chair Kulig steps down, Mahoney declares candidacy for interim chair

Manchester City Democratic chair Liz Kulig has stepped down from the post, effective on Sunday, Feb. 1, meaning the committee will soon be electing an interim chairman until a new chair and other committee officers are elected in the spring.

The committee will meet on Feb. 14 at the Manchester Public Library Auditorium at 10 a.m. to elect an interim chair.

An email sent today by the committee said Kulig left the position in order to take on a new job.

The first to declare a candidacy for the post was Ryan Mahoney, the current policy director for the state Senate Democrats and a former New Hampshire House Chief of Staff under former speaker Terie Norelli. Mahoney has also been an executive director of the state Democratic Party and has had numerous campaign roles.

Mahoney wrote in an email asking for support that his goal “will be nothing less than to build our committee into an example of what other Democrats across the state can aspire to.”
