Nautical theme continues with today’s ‘Maggie’s Tax of the Day’

Yesterday, Ovide Lamontagne’s campaign paid tribute to Columbus Day by referencing Maggie Hassan’s vote to double boat registration fees across the board. Today, in what appears to be a follow-up to last week’s documentation of automotive fees, the boating trend continues.

“Not content to simply increase the costs of getting a boat on the water, Sen. Hassan believed the state needed to make it more than two times more expensive to get permission from the state to captain it,” reads this morning’s press release from the Republican gubernatorial nominee’s campaign.

This particular vote, cast in 2009, raised the “licensing fees for vessel captains, masters, pilots, and engineers by 275%.”
