Pet care facilities enter the fray with ‘Maggie’s Tax of the Day’ #58

Per Monday morning’s press release from Ovide Lamontagne’s campaign, this week will “focus on the most expensive and egregious tax increases of Sen. Hassan’s terms in the majority.”

In that spirit, this morning’s ‘Maggie’s Tax of the Day’ highlights Hassan’s vote for a “$30 million tax on pet stores and animal shelters.” The vote in question was from the 2010 special session, HB 1, which was needed in order to cover the shortfall that emerged from the disastrous 2009 budget. The tax hike’s purpose was to cover up to a tenth of the $300 million shortfall.

The press release also notes the ever-increasing amount of attention that ‘Maggie’s Tax of the Day’ is drawing, having been featured in both Concord Monitor and Boston Globe columns over the weekend.
