Shaheen raises cash off ‘Lie of the Year’

Evidently Jeanne Shaheen counts Politifact, The Concord Monitor, The New York Times, and her own words as part of the vast right-wing conspiracy.

So long as they help her raise money off a lie so infamous it’s the “Lie of the Year,” at least.

That’s the gist from an afternoon fundraising appeal from the New Hampshire Democrat’s camp, which rebukes the ad launched yesterday by Ending Spending targeting her over Obamacare. The Super PAC made a five-figure buy and is also hoping to draft Scott Brown into challenging Shaheen next year.

“The right-wing Super PACs are desperate to take back the Senate – and they know that to do that they must win in New Hampshire,” the fundraising note reads in part.

“Every day we wait is another day these attacks go unanswered.”

Of course, Shaheen herself takes star billing in the ad, which replays a floor speech showing the senator vowing “you can keep your insurance if you like it.”

That echoes the mantra repeatedly used by President Obama, which Politifact just last week gave the dubious distinction of 2013’s “Lie of the Year.”

The remaining publications cite the thousands of Granite State residents who’ve since had their insurance cancelled and that Obamacare only allows for one insurer on the individual market.

The ad’s featured snippet from the Senate floor sees Shaheen go on to pledge an increase in both choice and competition, offering more apparent contradictions with reality.

The Washington Post subsequently wrote the ad was the stuff of nightmares for Democrats in 2014.

Shaheen seems to realize this, but we’re just wondering what “attacks” to which her team is referring.

Apparently this go round, and for the next year, they’re her own words.

Lie of the year? No, lie of the century! I made this parody video to illustrate all the lies told to sell Obamacare, and its funnier than the clownshow over at Politifarce too!
