Slate labels Ayotte among top conservatives to watch on 2011

The website Slate has labeled new U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) one of ten “conservatives who will define 2011.”

“Because she didn’t fit into any narrative—endorsed by Palin yet opposed by a Tea Party candidate—and because she didn’t court national media, Ayotte got a fraction of the 2010 media coverage that went to candidates like O’Donnell and Sharron Angle,” the site reports. “Now, she’s a pro-life female Republican senator from New England. Go ahead and name the last one of those. Republicans have talked up Ayotte’s potential as a Republican star since she was her state’s attorney general. With her positions on oversight of stimulus spending, judicial nominations, and anything else in the intersection of transparency and the law, she’ll get to prove or disprove the hype.”
