Sununu to Co-Chair Broadband for America
Former U.S. Senator John E. Sununu announced yesterday that he will be serving as honorary co-chair of pro-broadband coalition Broadband for America. The MIT-grad and engineer will work with former Congressman Harold Ford Jr. to advise the group as it works to expand broadband access across the country.

Sen. John Sununu To Join Broadband For America As Honorary Co-Chair
WASHINGTON, DC – Broadband for America today announced that former U.S. Senator John Sununu will become the 300-member coalition’s new honorary co-chair.
Sununu will join former U.S. Rep. Harold Ford, Jr. in providing strategic leadership and guidance to the coalition as it works to extend broadband access to every American home and business.
Sununu, a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) stated, “As an engineer, I have taken a great interest in the development of broadband technology and public policy. I consider my work on the Senate Commerce Committee to be among the most important – and enjoyable – experiences of my congressional career.”
“Broadband for America’s top priority is to ensure that policies governing broadband networks work effectively for all American consumers,” Sununu said. “Getting every home and business wired for broadband is vital to the nation’s long-term prosperity.”
Broadband for America’s Web site has become an important source of up-to-date information on broadband and its significance in every segment of the nation’s economy and culture with state-by-state data, videos, blogs and examples of technology impacting lives.
Sununu earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University. Sununu was a member of United States Senate Commerce Committee from 2003 to 2009 and led the effort to pass the 2007 Internet Tax Freedom Act.
